We finally sampled our first lambs this month - 9 ram lambs (uncastrated) were sent via Reg Cornthwaite of Grove Farm to be slaughtered and butchered and came back after a week ready for the pan in the form of 18 half-lamb packs. Lovely and lean because of the time of year and our laisser-faire attitude to supplementary feeding (only if the grass is covered with snow or very clearly limited), I have tried both the chops and the kidneys and Becca and I have the rest of one half lamb tucked awa...

First meat ready to buy!

Heifer 21 is due back to us on Saturday 12th November, having been hung and dry-aged for 28 days, and then butchered and packed by Goddens of Chesham.

We'll be selling what we can on a first-come, first-served basis from 9am. Can't wait!

Number 21, your time is up!

Heifer tagged 21, who has spent September gorging herself on our windfall apples, was sent off to the butcher last week. After getting a name for herself as the moodiest and most difficult to manage of our herd, she surprised us all with the ease with which she calmly walked into the trailer.

Sam Godden is now working his magic on the 350kg carcass, and we look forward to our first meat boxes in November!
